Founder MANJIRO KONDO
1927Manjiro Kondo, who had worked for Industrial Dept. of Japan Branch of The Singer Company, founded Kondo Sewing Machine Company in Osaka and began to engage in the import and sales of industrial sewing machines; then manufacturing and export of sewing machines for knitted materials. The business succeeded thanks to the excellent performance and quality of the products. In Aug. 1949 our standard drawing of overlock stitch machine was adopted as the original plan of Japan Standard Specification in International Trade and Machinery Bureau, Japan Sewing Machinery Industry Committee and Japan Sewing Machinery Technique Conference.
1952 Our overlock machine was awarded the Prize of the Director of the Minor Enterprises at Japan Minor Enterprises Export Encouraging Exhibition.
1964 Our factory was rewarded by Osaka Prefecture as the excellent factory in the promotion in quality control. In Apr.1964 concluded the contract as the exclusive distributor of The Reece Corporation (U.S.A.) in Japan. In May 1965 concluded the contract with Complett S.P.A. (Italy) as the exclusive distributor in Japan.
1965DCZ-200 class Automatic Lubrication Type 6,000 s.p.m. Super High Speed Overlock Stitch Machine was completed.
1976World's first Automatic Blindstitch Hemmer, ABH-1000 was completed. Jan. 1983 Participated in the Automatic Sewing System Research and Development Association of the Industrial Technology Academy.
1983Apparel CAD System (computer-aided design system) was released for sale. Apparel U.P.S. System (unit production delivery system) was released for sale.
1986AZ8000-8500 classes Super High Speed Overlock Stitch Machine were released for sale. Oct. 1986 FMS (flexible manufacturing system) and Painting Robot were installed for the manufacturing of frames of industrial sewing machines.
1987 Established our subsidiary company Yamato U.S.A. Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., U.S.A. 1988 Established Yamato Corporation for the purpose of the sales of the textile machinery.FIRST interlock hemming m/c with Left Hand Fabric Trimmer introduced …for improved finishing quality and dramatic labor saving.
1988 NB2000 Electronically Controlled Posted Button Sewing Machine for Wrapping Mechanism was developed. Jan. 1989:Established Yamato Hong Kong Co., Ltd. in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Jan. 1990:Yamato Europe GmbH in Hamburg/Germany was established. FIRST Air Wiper on thread trimmer for interlock m/c … improved both productivity and finishing quality, without mechanical hazard.
1993 Presentation of FIRST interlock m/c with Top Feeder …for enhanced finishing quality.
1995Small cylinderbed interlockers - VE series were released. 1996: Variable Top Feed Interlock machines were developed. 1999: Yamato's New Cylinderbed Interlock Series VG is released. This machine series was awarded "New Machine Development Prize" set up by Japan Society for the Promotion of Machine Industry for its development
1996 FIRST small cylinder bed interlock m/c with Differential Feed …for easier handling and improved quality.
2002Small cylinderbed interlockers - VE series were released. 1996: Variable Top Feed Interlock machines were developed. 1999: Yamato's New Cylinderbed Interlock Series VG is released. This machine series was awarded "New Machine Development Prize" set up by Japan Society for the Promotion of Machine Industry for its developmenJIAM2002 exhibition was held sucessfully in Osaka, Japan. Our president, Mr. Shogo Kondo lead the organizer to have unique "JASMA Theme Zone", which shown a touch of "future gament industy" by linkage of each stages of industry from Planning, material arranging, sewing through sales. Nov. 2005:Marketed VGS series, Cylinder bed interlock stitch machine with Variable top feeder & Active thread control. And keep being higly appreciated by the "Top-runners" in the global garment industry for its higher applicability for various sewing conditions, including difficult-to-sew-fabric.
2003Released “VF2500-8” class and "VG2700-8" class, interlock stitch machines with “Active Thread Control” technology, as world's FIRST 200%+ Elastic Seam by Serial-production basis Interlock stitch machine for customers to meet requirement for stretchable fabric to come.
2005Released “VGS-8” series, interlock stitch machines with Variable Top and Bottom Feeder and “Active Thread Control” technology.
2006Awarded “Excellent Management Award – International Contribution Prize”
2007Established Liaison Office in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.Celebrated 80-year-anniversary since foundation. Established liaison office in Dhaka, Bangladesh
2008Released "AZ8000SD-8" class, the world's FIRST Overlock Machine which achieved both High Speed & Dry Finish for decreased downtime while securing high productivity. Mr. Shogo Kondo was appointed as Chairman of the Executive Committee of JIAM2008 Singapore. Yamato selected as one of “300 middle-sized high-spirited manufacturing companies, to be a foundation of future Japan” organized by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Small and Medium Enterprise Agency of Japan.
2009Released “VFK2560-8” series, Flatbed Flatseamer, which dramatically lowers required skills for flatseaming operation.
2010Released A subsidiary company, “Yamato Corporation” started marketing and service activities on sewing machines as well as textile machinery.
2013Mr. Shogo Kondo was appointed as Chairman of the Executive Committee of JIAM2016 Osaka.
2014Certified as one of “100 Global Niche Top Enterprises ”, hosted by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, by recommendation of Shoko Chukin Bank
